Matt

Matt qualified from the university of Bristol and has spent a significant portion of his training in the Southwest and has also spent time training in Western Australia. Throughout his career he has been interested in innovation; both in medical practice and also within education. Having created The Vascular Access Course in Taunton in 2011 it has grown year on year into the course it is today. The course has benefited from significant investment in time with the creation of purpose built ultrasound mannikins to help facilitate learning. The main focus is on creating a manikin which is as lifelike as possible for candidates to practice the necessary skills required to successful utilise ultrasound in vascular access.

Ultrasound guided vascular access is a skill anyone can learn and Matt is passionate about targeting vascular access to help improve patient safety and satisfaction. It is often the source of worry and concern for many patients and having the skills necessary to cannulate a patient with difficult intravenous access is fundamental to all members of the multidisciplinary team.
